I think that it's diffcult to be all things to all people and sometimes you need to realise that relationships between kids and parents are not always like a bowl of strawberries and cream, there are some sour moments as well.
There is a time when you have to be the caring parent and pick up your child's teddy bear and other times you have to leave it on the floor and let them cry. That way they will learn that things are not always easy. They won't have things handed to them, they will learn to make their own way.
My 2 boys know that I am there for them when they REALLY need me. They also know that I always will be.
Relationships can be like that as well, some take more and give less (the leave them to cry ones) there has to be a balance. finding that balance is tough.
Life is a learning curve that has no end. As long as we understand that and continue to learn, then we will all be stronger and better for it.
