Usually reasonable parents split the cost of extracurricular activities after agreeing on them. Set up your boundaries. You want the best for your kids but the ability to provide 'extras' changes in divorce.
"Reasonable" is the key word. Why would the WAS all of a sudden become reasonable?
My XW wanted me to pay for extracurriculars on top of significant alimony and child support (you may remember that). I tried to get her to share expenses, but she would tell me (and our D) that she couldn't afford even half. So if I didn't pay, D wouldn't get to participate ("You can't go to camp because dad won't pay for it"). I could have dug in my heels and held my ground, but in the end decided sucking it up rather than getting into a prolonged fight about it was in D's best interest. I'm sure something similar will happen with her college expenses coming up in a few years.

I agree Peter, "Resonable" is what I have to convince her to be in regards to the extracurricular finances. Maybe I will just suggest that if she wants D6 to have addtional lessons that she pay the extra cost.
College is written in our divorce judgment to be a shared cost up to the University of Oregon standards based upon our incomes at the time. I am hoping for some scholorships!
S8 and I rented a sea kayak on the Big Island and had a great time on our own paddling to the place where Captain Cook died from spear cancer. We got to see some spinner dolphins jumping on the way back.
I reckon since I will have 2 kids and possibly GF40 and her daughter that the odd number makes it difficult to find rental of a 3 person kayak - probably need to rent a canoe. Maybe I can rent a sailboat for the ocean.
There's a large variety of kayaks nowadays. Kauai is a much older island so there are riverways. My friends lead trips on those, so the kayaks are open and can hold an adult and 2 children (I think). Anyway, they're wailua kayak adventures.
The author of those "Revealed" books has a great writing style. I liked the Big Island Revealed and Oahu Revealed which were very helpful. Some of the locals dont really like that the author has given out some of the cool hidden secrets to us "main landers".
I posted this on my thread, but thought you'd enjoy. Hope you had a good valentine's day.
