T, having a little medical knowledge (just enough to be dangerous, lol), you may want to share with her that her body will heal slower if she is not taking her pain pills, & her body has to "fight" the pain.

Also, people respond differently to pain pills. For example; Darvocet makes me hypersensitive to sound & movement. Percocet gives me energy, & I feel almost normal, just with no pain. Vicodin doesn't even touch my pain.

She can ask her Dr to let her try a different one, if she has unpleasant side effects from one.

Another pain pill trick is to cut them in half, & take 1/2 every 2 hours instead of 1 every 4 hours. It cuts down on the nausea, spaciness, & rebound pain. If she still has a lot of nausea, she can ask her Dr to prescribe an anti-nausea medication to take with the pain pills.
