If he asks you what your plans are, you're certainly under no obligation to tell him if you don't want to.
He sounds like he's in typical fogged-out wayward woe-is-me-ism, and wanting you to "rescue" him emotionally. I personally wouldn't get involved in his drama. Stay upbeat -- not a care in the world!
