I'm with Puppy and Yoyo, the cookies were just an excuse. Wow, Karen is going to be the town Hottie...

The conversations that they have with the kids where they try to make everything ok is solely for their own benefit. If it actually had anything at all to do with the kids or their feelings, they would encourage the kids to talk and express their feelings. Its simply about salving their own conscience and wanting to continue to cling to the "fantasy" of everything is going to be "perfect" now. Yah right. Real life is not pretty. Since none of them address their issues, they will take their baggage and then some into these new relationships and the inevitable will happen. When they finally get whatever it is they think they want, they will realize only the names have changed, not the issues.

Sorry for the small rant, but thats what is seems like to me.
