I think this has to be part of his crash and burn process. I just do not see any other way.
My FIL told me to do NOTHING--it is H's mess and let him figure things out. I cannot tell you how many times he has told me that. I have not spoken to FIL recently about finances. This is H's mess, now let him figure it out.
