Hi Lanzo - Sorry to hear about your mom and W having lung problems. Maybe some of it is weather related. On a brighter note, I am so happy that your marriage is still recovering.
Kids do tend to pick out differences and it can cause some hurt. My son also had some teasing in his school recently because of his racial makeup, braininess and political beliefs (funny that 2nd graders get all worked up about that). I first urged him to not let talk of others bother him and I also let the teacher know by an email. The teacher had some circle time talks with the class about how to appropriately share ideas and feelings, how to best handle a situation that makes one uncomfortable or hurt, and how to remove ones self from unhealthy situations. He seems to be handling it very well now.
