I don't have a dog but the thought has crossed my mind. I would have to fix the entire yard. The fence is like chicken wire on one side and a nice fence on the other. Just so many things to fix. My home, like my life is a work in progress.

Kat,
How scary! How about having a nice big inside dog? The kids could take turns taking it for a walk. I'm sure the kids would love it too! I have two little inside dogs. They are lots of company and they sure have good ears too!

Hugs, Yoyo

Dogs and ferretts...not quite sure how they would go together. I am going to be checking out my options and see what I can afford to do. I just need some peace one way or another. It seems so elusive.

So stressed out with s13 and his classes that I am trying to help him out with, plus wanting to get Ex out of my hair. I am soooo over it with him trying to seem like a responsible and caring parent. He usually just throws his hands up in the air and says I don't get it and walk off but yet s13 is responsible for figuring it out. When he brought them home last night he had one algebra problem done and it took us an hour to figure the rest out.

I am trying to help him understand, not do it for him. Plus it has been like forever since I had Algebra. I found a couple of sites on-line that may help and I am going to Best Buy to see if I can find a program that might help.

I can so relate to this. I'm very much an English/history kind of person and math is not my subject. Another thought I had, b/c I did this, is when I was in college I hired another college student as a tutor from the Math Dept. (get like a grad student that's teaching and needs the $$$ but is basically a few credits away from being a professor.) If you have a college or community college nearby, they usually have a math dept. and they'll have posts up and they should be able to handle your son's class with no problem at all (not like us reaching back 20 or 30 years to remember it)!

Oh, and if you decide to go the hsing route I can answer a lot of questions if you have any about that. I've been doing it now for about 7 years. Some people are really fervently in favor of it or not, I kind of think it depends on a lot of different factors, and every child and parent is different (and our schooling in FL is not very good around here) kind of stuff. And we can't afford private school which I wouldn't mind doing either!!! Karen

I have thought about going the tutor route as well, I just want to see if going to the teacher helps. I also bout a couple of programs over lunch that might help clear things up. I know if he starts to get it, he will put in more effort. Right now he is just lost.

People either love algebra or hate it. IF the teacher is good at all, he/she should fit some time in to help him. All he needs to do is ask. In fact, the teacher will be impressed that he is doing something to figure it out, rather than just giving us (as many students do).

There are tutors all over the place. I use to do that. It costs between 20 - 40 bucks an hour around here for a good tutor.

I'm glad you spent that time with him trying to figure it out. I remember all the times my dad did my math with me. He was ALWAYS there when I needed him and I knew that. Your son knows that about you, too. You're a great mom.

Thanks, sometimes I need to hear that.

Got another blow today. Found out that my 13 year old neice does indeed have cancer. They live in Alabama and I haven't seen her for a few years. Her birthday is the same as ex's and she is just a few months older than my s13. So I guess if there is anything else that has to come my way let it happen now while I am already feeling down. I know this isn't happening to me but it still hurts. I am not sure what type of cancer she has, probably won't know until next week but if you guys could add a prayer for her I would really appreciate it.

I may not be posting as much for a few days but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

hugs,
kat
