Here in UK it is currently fashionable for teenage boys to wear rosary beads with crucifixes at the end. My S16 came with me to visit my parents two weeks ago and was wearing one of these awful adornments (don't get me wrong in the right setting and for the right reason etc). I paid little attention to it b/c I knew his best friend already had one and supposed he just wanted to feel part of the group. Then my SIL commented on it and I heard him tell her that OW had given it to him. I was furious but said nothing. My mum overheard half the conversation and asked him to repeat what he had said which he did but omitted the fact that it was a gift from OW. I just said 'that is not what you just said' and left it at that. It wasn't just that OW had the audacity to give him a gift it was also the fact that he wore it in my company knowing how hurt I would be.
