I think your sitch does still have possibility, provided that you keep emotional distance right now and don't let him call the shots. It seems to be working when you back off, that he draws closer. In my experience, WAS don't usually recommit overnight- it's a gradual process. They may not even admit it verbally for a while but their actions show baby steps. Remember to keep your needs in mind.
