Maybe you will get lucky and some other fool unlucky and let her sink her nasty hooks into him.
Did you have a good time on New Year's? I think the more times you can get together like that the better. Maybe even figure out a way to be busy when he drops by. Even if you have to "act as if" you are going somewhere. The less available you are, the more interested/closer he seems to get. It could be worth a go.

New Years Eve was okay. We went to the casino. We broke about even so I guess that's better than losing a lot. We ate a really good buffet. It is Paula Dean's restaurant. The one that always says "Hey Ya'll it's Paula Dean" on the food network. It had some really country cooking. You wouldn't believe how many food stations there were. And the desserts! Yummy!!!
