Hi Trixi-

Dropping by to wish you well tomorrow too! You are a super strong person, stronger than you know just for going through all this and for making the trip for SS tomorrow. Remember that! You're the most amazing step mom for SS. You're an amazing, dedicated person and you can get through it!

To "let go" does not mean to stop caring.
It means I can't do it for someone else.

To "let go" is not to cut myself off.
It's the realization I can't control another.

This is the one of the best to keep in mind(Thanks Nik for posting all this-it helps me too!). It's not b/c you don't care it's b/c you need to stop letting him hurt you.

BTW- I've gone to Alanon before, I enjoyed it. I may go again. My stbx and my sister have both had substance abuse issues that affected me. It adds another level of confusion and irresponsibility when it's involved. The person can't really think straight all the time and it affects their long range thinking too. Facing this was a wake up call for me- that I had to "let go" of both of them. I think Alanon has helped me with this so far, I definitely think it's worth it to try a meeting.

You're probably heading home right about now... so I just wanted to post again. Maybe I'm crazy but I really do think sending those strong thoughts helps!! Hope you're picturing all of us there with you in the car and "beaming" our strength and care to you.
