hey LE - I think all kids want the same thing. My S6 says similar things but I try to explain to him in the simplest form. We both just say that mummy and daddy don't love each other anymore and leave it at that which he gets. S2 seems to be pretty ok, but when he doesn't get his own way (terrible 2's which we never got with S6), he will cry and say he wants mummy. I asked what he does at home and S6 said he does the same but says he wants daddy, which my STBX confirmed.
I do think kids will cope and adapt, but I also believe in what Michelle says in the first chapter of the book. However, I (we) can only play what cards we are dealt and be the best people we can for our kids.
