Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a better day. We had a nice talk in the morning, and H and I were able to talk without a lot of painful emotion. I feel like we made some important headway.
Our S22 came by for a visit, and later in the afternoon one of H's brothers came over and had a couple of drinks with us. After he left we had something to eat and watched the basketball game. When the game was over we went up to bed. It was a relaxing and peaceful day, and for the first time in quite a long time I felt loved by H. I mentioned it to him, and thanked him for that.
We fell asleed pretty quickly since we were both pretty tired, and slept until 2:30 am when we both woke up to a loud bang and crash. H jumped out of bed and looked out the window. Someone had just run down our mailbox. He told me to go down and turn on the outside lights, while he put some clothes on. As I got to the front door, I heard him say "Is that who I think it is?" Then he swore. It was OW and her H. They apparently lost control of their car on the icy road right in front of our house. They took out our mail box, spun around and plowed their Suburban backwards into the steep ditch in front of our house. H told me to call 911, and I did. He went outside, and yelled out to them, they had gotten out of the vehicle and were walking around in the road. She in her little mini skirt and high heeled "hooker boots". He asked if they had been drinking (duh, ya think? at 2:30 in the morning) and told them the cops were coming. Then he yelled, this is some lifestyle you've got! He came back into the house and we watched as the cops came and handled the situation. They gave the H a breathalizer, which was under the legal limit. They had to call a wrecker for the vechile, which is probably totaled, windows were blown out and one door was torn off. But, it seems that they were unhurt.
Our front yard is torn up, the grass, mud and dirt thrown all they way up to my porch swing. My H said if they had been just a few feet the other side of our drive, they would have smashed into our porch and probably been into the living room.
I told H that I want these people out of our lives, that everything they come near gets destroyed. He told me that he is sorry, so sorry. Then he gave me a long hug.
Neither one of us could go back to sleep, so we stayed up and drank coffee. Then he had to go out and salt our plow accounts. The rain is coming harder now, but hopefully it is also warming up. Our newly landscaped and seeded front yard and ditch are destroyed and my porch is burried under mud. Wonder if their insurance company will have to repair all that?
Most of us are about as happy as we make up our minds to be.
