Your h is most likely in the dark hole right now. He's trying to work up enough energy and guts to contact his father after all of this time.

I do hope that your new year will be a better one. Hopefully things will settle down and you'll be better able to figure out what you need to do in regards to the expenses, etc. I do hope that your h will find a job and soon.
