Just wanted to wish all the dbers a Happy Holiday season!
Finished up my finals for grad school and finished up working full time at a local community college. Papers are almost all graded and now I have a few weeks off.
Ahhh...
Son still struggles with XH as we discussed last night. These poor kids. Although it seems to get easier for us it is never easy for the kids. Mine have been doing exceptionally well since it has been four years but there are ghosts of MLC crisis' past that still linger in the air and the memories still exist. So glad my son can talk about it.
XH saw my ring tonight for the first time. In fact, first time I have seen him since being engaged. He grabbed my hand and looked at my ring finger. Said, "it figures this diamond is bigger" then looked me in the eye. I said,"they are both beautiful." He asked me, "do you still have the other one?" I said, "of course I do." And I dropped it.
He looks terrible but his defensiveness is gone - it's merely sadness that is left. We are friendly now since I have moved on, I guess. He still stuck but not angry anymore. We do very well parenting the kids and he appreciates that I keep them involved.
THis MLC thing really does a number on them. I know it appears to do a number on us, but they have to live with the result of their behavior. When they know they were responsible the break up of a family that is not an easy thing to shake - especially when they start to "wake up."
Well, that is all for now. Now it is time to gear up and go out for my celebratory Cosmo and enjoy no more essays to read for three weeks! Yee Ha !
