Interesting convo with ex today. For some reason he was talking about celebrating x-mas with his parents and kids next Tuesday(his night) and then coming to my house to celebrate his x-mas on Wednesday. I didn't understand why, what was the point of them opening presents for 15 minutes and then him leaving. He really could not answer me right off and then he said maybe we could have dinner and I said or maybe watch a movie they might get for x-mas. He said yeah, that is what he wanted. Family time? Ummm, you didn't pick your family but it is Christmas and we all know that for the most part I am not an evil person.

Interesting.

Interesting? It makes me sad. He wants family time, but can't make the connection that you are part of that. Sounds like his new life may not be as fulfilling as he thought it would be. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, with or without him.

I guess eventually reality hits them & it sounds like that's happening in your x's case. Can any fantasy life be as good as they think? I don't think so. Reality has to hit them once in a while at least. You are kind to let him join in... Karen

I am not expecting anything from it. It might just be nice for the kids. I want them to have a nice Christmas but money is tight as you all know. Only getting them each a few things but they each got something they needed/wanted early. S13 needed a new coat as he outgrew his old one, S16 needed jeans and D8 needed some shoes. I couldn't leave D10 out so I got her Rock Band mic off of ebay. They all seemed really happy. I realize that they have Grandparents buying for them and I don't have to get them everything. I am just going for meaning and a little practicality.

I stole this idea from Oprah. I am going to make hot chocolate "cones". You use cake decorating bag(the clear plastic), put in a double serving of cocoa, chocolate chips and marshmellow and tie at the top. I saw them on sale at CVS for $5.00 each!! They don't cost that much to make. Plus it should be fun.

S13 had to be picked up at school yesterday as he got sick. I called ex to see if he could get him since my boss was gone at the time. Ex was heading out of town and so he said maybe his Mom could get him. She did and that was good but then ex started harping about how sick he has been, about homework, about teachers. I got tired listening. I guess it makes him feel like a good parent to rant and rave about all of these issues.

Ex made an appointment to take S13 to a dr. so we can figure out why he has been getting sick alot lately. He is planning on taking him. I don't feel terribly bad about that because, I dealt with it for 14 years without a lot of help. He has some catching up to do!

Yeah, I have 7 days off. Not as good as at Thanksgiving but gee I just have to work Friday of next week and then the weekend. I can do that!! Life is going on pretty much as normal but instead of waiting until the day before everyone comes to really clean, I have started today.

Who said you can't teach a procrastinator new tricks??

Hey, does no one appreciate my humor!!! Hey, what ya doing Kat? I just made those 7 layer magic cookie bars but made them 6 layers--the kids don't like the nuts so took those out. It's the easiest cookie recipe I could think of!!! About to go to party #1 and then another party tonight. What's up for you??? Karen

I just got done making 2 blankets, one for each of my girls. I have one more to make but will have to wait until Tuesday when they are with their Dad. He actually brought them home right when I was in the middle of the 2nd one(so much for keeping them until 6). We had to cover the girls eyes and keep them in their room for about 30 min. while I finished! Ex actually offered to help. Shock. He even commented what a sweet gift they were.

Don't know why he is kissing up and really don't care. Yes I thought your response was cute! Pass your recipe along will ya, especially if their is chocolate!! Have fun tonight.

Is there any other kind??? \:\) Okay, I've made these before (I adored them as a kid, I think it's the perfect kid snack) and even kids can make them so that's why I picked them! I got it today at: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Layer-Bar-Cookies/Detail.aspx?src=etaf which btw has a budget recipe section which I've gotten some recipes from and they're good so far. OK here goes: : INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (note: I did 325 degrees b/c I used a glass baking pan).
Melt the butter or margarine in a 9x13 inch baking pan. Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs evenly over the butter. Sprinkle on the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Cover with the flaked coconut. Sprinkle the walnuts on top of the coconut layer. Finally, pour the condensed milk over everything as evenly as you can.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool, and cut into bars. (I planned on cooling them off quick in the frig but that didn't work out well. It took a couple of hours so I should have made them last night!!!)
