I'm confused thuogh, you say "I mean, we can't even be friends let alone anything else. He's still not putting any effort into this.".. but you have been dating someone !?
And early on, when H first expressed interest in getting back together, yuo were seeing HG? And I vaguely remember him wanting to meet up with you (and go to a wedding?) and you saying no you were busy?
So do you reckon he got discouraged by your muted response? Or, maybe as he said to you he has depression (?) and is in IC, he doesnt have the energy, or confidence to work on it? Can you just call him up and ask him how he is, instead of IMing? Try a softer, personal approach?? He did say you were the best thing that ever happened to him, so I am sure he wont mind a phonecall!
I dont know, its confusing, but perhaps your 'energy' has been diverted with these 2 other guys and maybe you have been TOO detached!? Or maybe your H, like you say, is just making no effort at all.. probably the latter I would say.
