Why not plan something nearby, inexpensive, but some sense of fun/adventure for you and the kids, instead? Like a CAMPING trip!!!! Plan it, announce it, tell your wife she is free to come if she wants to (she won't), and create some memories for you and your children.
Although I've spent thousands of dollars on vacations and presents for my kids over the years, my S12's greatest memories are still eating chocolate cake and "that good milk" at a deli during a baseball tournament, or camping with my siblings and parents up in TN.
