Thinking about this a little more (no, haven't responded yet), I am not sure i like the "I find it a little difficult to communicate as the third person in the situation.".

Perhaps something more along the lines of this:

"W, I couldn't agree with you more - communication is something needed, in all areas. It is a 2 way street that neither of us seem to want to travel lately. I agree with you that it is important, and something I am very willing to work on. I believe this goes hand in hand with the "no more lies and deceit" I mentioned a couple weeks back.

It has been a while since we talked about cancelling the trip but need to soon. Something to think about."

Thoughts? Lots I want to say about actions / consequences, continued contact with OM, etc but not here I don't think.
