I'm sorry he didn't show. He is still thinking about himself. 'He' didn't feel comfortable. He's not thinking about what you would want or what the kids wants.
I am so sorry that he is self-centered right now. But as you saw, it's all for the best. There's much less stress at the table and you all can still have a nice Thanksgiving. Not the same as before but still nice, right? I am sure your family really appreciated all the work you put in for them. It's these times that they can count on that the kids will treasure in their memories. It's great that you didn't break down and not do Thanksgiving just because your H let you down. You're a good sport for holding up the fort!!
