It is rough on the kids I think. That's the worst part of D to me. But I'm poor too, and I think you can have just as much fun with the kids for free or very little. I do almost every free thing in town. Just baking chocolate chip cookies or a cake is something the kids enjoy and they love helping with that (esp. licking the batter). We do Taekwondo for $10 a month at the city parks & rec. My church has tons of free activities for the kids too. Honestly, my kids have more fun for free sometimes I think than when their dad takes them to a $50 movie (when you figure in the junk food).
