Yeah, well at least a whole lot of people are taken in by the same things I was. He is, after all, at the top of his field--a field that deals with folks' faith development, emotional and mental stability, and pastoral skills, as well as systems of dysfunction. He rose to the top of that field at a relatively young age, and in a short period of time. And he has a very positive reputation in that field. So at least I don't feel as dumb.
And I had no idea Satan was musical! You learn something every day....

I did not know that! But then there's that "Devil Went Down to Georgia" fiddle business too. H isn't so much musical, he's a drummer. Doesn't even really read music. Does Satan have a good sense of rhythm?

Some point to Ezekiel 28:11-19 (KJV), with the "tabrets and pipes":
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
Although the word tabret has been changed in most Biblical translations to "timbrel" or "tambourine," the King James Version still refers to these instruments of worship as "tabrets." The words tabret and timbrel are quite Biblical and are mentioned several times in the Old Testament. 1. A tabret is a small tabor. 2. A tabor is a small drum with one head. 3. A taboret is a small tabor which consists of a small seat without an arm or backing as well as a small frame for holding material while being upholstered. 4. A tabour is a drum; it consists of a circular frame of two hoops fitting withing one another in which a cloth is stretched.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends! In the midst of the devasation that is most of our lives, I am thankful to have such wonderful companionship on the journey to healing, peace, and joy--whatever it may look like when we get there.
No, DD12 will be home for Thanksgiving. The cousins she most wanted to see are not headed to St. Louis after all, because of the recent death of their other grandpa. They may visit one weekend in December, don't know for sure, and she will go with them. H is on-call on-site at the hospital until 8 pm. DD and I will be going over to a friend's house around noonish, then she will spend the night with her dad tonite. Tomorrow her choir will welcome Santa as he drops from the sky in a helicopter at the State Museum. And we both have 4 days off for the holiday. YAY us!
When H dropped her off yesterday evening, he sent along a check for $150 with a notation that said "1/2 November child support." After a note from my L that said he hadn't heard back from H's L, I wasn't counting on anything to change. But then, court is in just a little over 2 weeks so I guess I should anticipate him acting a little more human between now and then to impress the judge. Again, playing the system. Too little too late, I think. However, I am very thankful to have the $150--it will buy a lot of groceries. And I put $20 in my gas tank last evening--and it's almost full! Gotta love that!
