She was also suggesting that the public school system here in FL might be better for them (they have no special ed though and 30 kids in a class) might be better for them b/c I don't standardized test the kids. I was trying to explain when you homeschool you already know what level the kids are doing reading, writing, and math, and you don't have to test when you are working with the kids one-on-one most of the day. She seemed to think it was criminal--how can you not compare your children to other children in public school she wants to know. Geez, their autistic and dyslexic, why would I want to find out how many grade levels they are behind at a certain year; it doesn't change your daily work and working at their level. My ds now is reading adult level books, but was a couple years behind early on. What does it matter that he took extra time to learn to read? Karen
Karen she studied Law, not education. Just because she has a degree doesn't make her smart. YOU know what is best for your kids and I think that in this case opinions are like A-holes...everybody has one. Don't let her try and push you on what SHE thinks is right for your kids. If they were mainstreamed it would be detrimental to their progress right? Well then do what is best for them. Period. Sorry, this really pissed me off.
I also think that maybe her attitude is a reflection of who she is and what she does for a living. Don't take it personally, but don't put up with her BS either. You are paying HER, so she needs to treat you with respect. Bottom line. Take care of yourself. (((Hugs)))
