I have a theory that the people who get back together are the ones with patience. Most people just give up too quickly. I had a friend who, 2 months after marital trouble struck, after 14 years of marriage, just said "well, if you're not in love with me now, then let's just get divorced!" and sure enough, that is where she is now.
Instant satisfaction, that is what we are bred on these days. These days we think - if I am not happy today, tomorrow or next week, well then I need to move on to greener pastures.
