That letter is flipping amazing! Well done you!

Are you feeling peaceful about it?

Your true loving character shines through the letter - you should be proud of yourself. (I do like Lisa's edits and beginnersmind suggestiong too).

Crossing all my fingers and toes for you Jeff.

OK! Here it is updated. I split the difference on Lisa suggesting about "physical" stuff. I left in the hugs, and deleted the ML. I left the beginning as it was. She can choose to see that negatively, but I think it is important to explain why this is a letter. I got rid of the economy comment, it didn't fit at all!

Peaceful? I don't know if that's the word I'd use. But, I am satisfied that this is the right thing to do. I can't control her reaction, but I am ready for it.

I really appreciate the time that so many of you put into reading that letter, over and over, and making so many thoughtful and useful suggestions. I know that took a lot of time, and I wish I could do more than just say, "Thanks!"

I'm pretty sure tomorrow is not the day, W is still pretty sick, and I don't think it would be fair to either one of us to give it to her when she is in that condition. (Not English "sick", Lisa, Ali, naej, and any other "English" speakers! Poorly, for you!)

Jeff,

I realize I am late to the game, but I just read the letter and have one comment. Why do you close with "I love you"?

To me, that negates the entire letter. It says, "well, you don't try and I'm not happy with this life, but I am a whipped dog that loves the master that treats it ill, so you don't have to change." Unless you sign all correspondence "I love you." I would take that out. Just sign your name.

Oh, boy! I put it in there because I haven't said it in ages. I think it might be sort of a shock for her to see it there. You have given me something to think about!

And, actually, she asked (told?) me some time ago NOT to say ILY. So, by saying it I am at least in a way, NOT being the whipped dog, I think.

Wow, Jeff, I am so impressed with how far you've come! You rock!

Your edits sound great! While it's still an important issue, I think it was good to delete the part about ML - I had forgotten that side of it was/is a "touchy" subject for your W.

I have to admit, the "ILY" kinda blew me away, too, when I first read it, but I think that's because when I asked if you loved her, it was hard for you to answer. Hmmm....After giving it thought and writing down the positives you actually do still see in your W, perhaps it softened ya a bit towards her? ;\) Anyhow, I see nothing wrong with the ILY. JMO.

You've done and are doing an awesome job!

I figured that if I was going to write this letter, the ILY belongs. If I didn't, why would I write the letter? I think it might surprise her. I think she's forgotten.

I'm really glad the little edits were useful. I think the letter looks really great- I wish my H had sent me a letter like that before he left to at least give me a chance. You're lovely and I hope your W opens her eyes and sees it soon. otherwise I'm going to be taking a flight over there and nabbing you myself ;\)

Have a great day,

L. xx
