Friendships have to be mutual, which means that it is give and take. Unfortunately some just take, which is what I meant by being "sucked dry".
I think in some ways you and I are alike. We want to be there for people and help them and listen to them especially when they are going through lifes everyday challenges, and we end up becoming their caretaker and life support.
One of the things I learned through my H's MLC was to stop the unhealthy behavior before it destroyed me. Because the crisis was so traumatic for me, I have had to re-evaluate so many things in my life, including certain friends.
I still pray for them but I keep my distance.
