OK, I have it out:

My grandmother called this Chocolate Sauce Pan Cake

2C sugar
2C flour

1/2 c shortening
1 stick margarine(you can use butter if you want)
1c water
4T cocoa

1/2c buttermilk
1t vanilla
2 eggs
1t baking soda
1/2t baking powder

In sauce pan, melt shortening, margarine, cocoa and water. While warm pour into a large bowl that has the sugar and flour in it. Add buttermilk, soda, eggs(one at a time) and vanilla. Mix well and pour into a greased and floured jellyroll pan. Bake 20 minutes at 375. Ice while still warm.

Icing:

1 stick margarine or butter
4 T cocoa
2-3 T half and half or milk
2-3 cups of powdered sugar
1t vanilla

Melt the margarine and cocoa. add the vanilla and then add the powdered sugar(start at 2 cups). then add the half and half starting with 2T. You will want the frosting to be a light brown. Adjust the powdered sugar and half and half as you need to. Decorate with chopped nuts if desired.

Hope you like it. It is my absolute favorite and it reminds me of my grandmother and all of her love when I make it. I still have her recipe in her handwriting. I give it to you with love.

PS it is really easy but the frosting takes some time to get right unless you make this icing alot.
