Yesterday was well deserved and I am glad that it turned out well. My parents gave me their old big screen tv when they got a new one and I did tell my Mom yesterday that I was afraid that after I filed they would try to sell it even though I hadn't bought it. So my Mom just called and told me they would come and get it Tuesday while the weather is still good. I also am going to get some other things that have some meaning to me so that those don't become involved.

I cried after I got off the phone and just explained to the kids why I am doing this. If I bought it, that was one thing but because they gave it to me, I didn't want them to lose it because of ex starting all of this. I have read that they either Trustee or Sheriff will go through your house and take what is sell able to help pay your debt. This is hard.

You do get exemptions to save the things that you need to live. I have personally never heard of such a thing happening as the sheriff coming to a house to recover assets for a BK sale. Might happen, just never heard of anyone that I know that has filed having that happen to them.

My W filed in Oct. 2000 and we never got a visit from anyone.

Well I don't know that you would "need" a big screen tv, or even a little one for that matter, to live. Just erring on the side of caution I guess. This is so hard emotionally and even physically because for me when I get too stressed out my body starts to rebel and I start throwing up. Hasn't gotten to that point yet and I have some medicine that can help, just hate dealing with it.

If you're that concerned about the TV; and I don't know that you are, you could always just use it. Then if it looks like that they will come to the house for an inventory; have your mom take it back. I know that will be a lot of labor; but once your cleared of your debt you can buy another one.

I'd ask your BK L about the likelihood of the trustee or sheriff coming out to your house. The exemptions should be enough to cover your household items if you don't have a lot of extravagant items. What could you really sell that TV for in a yard sale? That's the rule of thumb explained to me for listing the value of such items in a BK.

(((Kat))) that all sounds too crazy to imagine. I certainly hope it doesn't come to that.

You and your darling kids are in my prayers and sort of off topic, but can I get your texas sheet cake recipe?

Thanks and hugs dear lady...

OK, I have it out:

My grandmother called this Chocolate Sauce Pan Cake

2C sugar
2C flour

1/2 c shortening
1 stick margarine(you can use butter if you want)
1c water
4T cocoa

1/2c buttermilk
1t vanilla
2 eggs
1t baking soda
1/2t baking powder

In sauce pan, melt shortening, margarine, cocoa and water. While warm pour into a large bowl that has the sugar and flour in it. Add buttermilk, soda, eggs(one at a time) and vanilla. Mix well and pour into a greased and floured jellyroll pan. Bake 20 minutes at 375. Ice while still warm.

Icing:

1 stick margarine or butter
4 T cocoa
2-3 T half and half or milk
2-3 cups of powdered sugar
1t vanilla

Melt the margarine and cocoa. add the vanilla and then add the powdered sugar(start at 2 cups). then add the half and half starting with 2T. You will want the frosting to be a light brown. Adjust the powdered sugar and half and half as you need to. Decorate with chopped nuts if desired.

Hope you like it. It is my absolute favorite and it reminds me of my grandmother and all of her love when I make it. I still have her recipe in her handwriting. I give it to you with love.

kat

PS it is really easy but the frosting takes some time to get right unless you make this icing alot.
