You were trying to be nice, only good intentions, and you didn't chide him or anything.
I'd bet that worst case scenario he's mildly annoyed with you, or more likely annoyed with himself for not filing. I would say too that the text message was fine. Does he always write back right away? He'll probably write you back later.
Seriously, I wouldn't worry about this at all!
