When I read your reply to H, I said to myself "good for you." I'm glad you have let him know you are hoping for the best b/t you two, but you are scared. I think it is very, very important for him to know this, so it is great you told him.
I also agree that he is showing rather than just saying, so that is also very, very positive.
You are gently leading the way and you don't realize it. So, instead of thinking about "leading" just continue to be the Sunshine and you will lead naturally. He seems as if he wants to continue to follow and is making an honest effort to try and "catch up" to the new Maria. Good for him, that DAM.
Finally, you said you like the physical contact, well, you'll know soon enough if you want to be touched and loved on by him. If he continues to show lasting change, the physical feelings will return for you as well.
