I just spent over two hours typing up a *ridiculously* long post for my own thread, so I'm going to try to make this short! ;\)

SirPrize, this is a great idea, and after reading what you said about how this gratitude practice is helping you, I'm going to try it myself! I've done it before, but only in private journaling.

Oh, by the way, I want to encourage you to "go for it" with the guitar! My H has played guitar for 30 years, so I know a little about it (never played it myself). Two pieces of free advice (which may be worth exactly what you paid for them!): Take a guitar-playing friend to the shop to help you pick out a guitar that is good enough not to restrict your progress (don't go too cheap, or you'll regret it later!), and find an instructor, or at least a class--that will help you progress a lot faster!

So, here we go:

Today I am thankful for:
-- This board, and all the people here who teach me, and support me, and allow me to feel useful and appreciated when I post to them, and generally help me to become a better person, little by little
-- My friends in RL, who listen to me with kindness and love
-- A gorgeous, postcard-quality sunset!
-- My good health
-- My adorable, loving cats
-- Anti-depressants and suicide hotlines
-- The privilege of voting to express my preferences for government direction, especially since I belong to a group that has only been guaranteed this right for 88 years (American women--my grandmother voted in the first election open to women voters right about the time she got married)
-- An incredible season for fall colors, which makes driving anywhere an eye-popping and sensual experience!

I think that's enough for today...I need to save a few things for tomorrow's list! ;\)

Peace,
Dawn
