Doc,
It seems lately that you have been going down some cheeseless tunnels, nothing drastic, just small setbacks. Maybe you could start going out and being a little mysterious. Go to a bookstore and read, go to a park and go for a walk, do something for yourself. It doesn't have to cost money. Just don't always keep your wife informed. I'm not saying play games, just be a little mysterious. Be in a cheerful mood when you get home. You know how the old saying goes, "Smile it makes people wonder what you are up to." I hate to say it, but I almost think your wife is going to have to think she is in danger of losing you. Maybe she needs a little bit of a chase. I know this sounds like game playing, but there is a chapter in DR that talks about being mysterious.

I may be off base here, but just a thought...

Hey my other teacher friend...

Funny you should say that... Ok so yesterday I e-mailed Wife from work about one of the Dancing with the stars people having surgery. (I don't even like that show but was showing interest for her).
Anyway Most of the time when I e-mail W to say good morning or just Hi in the morning.. (I leave when she is still sleeping) she does not reply. This to me is like when you walk by someone and say good morning and they don't say it back. You feel snubbed...So half sarcastically I ended the e-mail with....

Just in case you did not realize this if you ever wanted to reply or acknowledge my email's there is a "reply" button.....

So she writes back

I’m replying….good grief!!

So I wrote back

Good grief........GOOD GRIEF.Who do you think you are? Charlie Brown? Take a chill pill lady.

Good morning to you too.....sheesh...

When I got home she was working with son on his homework did not pay much attention to me.. I said I needed to go get some shingles for the roof. (Going to rain Friday) and I left. I took a little longer than I expected and wife called my cell phone wondering where I went... I told her that I told her I was going to get shingles and she said she did not hear me. She said she was going to pick up something for her mom and then go work out. I said I had one more stop but I could just come home now if she wants.. She said no that's ok I can do it tomorrow.......

Anyway she had taken son to the doctor that day and said the doctor said that he needs to eat more vegetables and that she needs to stop being a "short order cook" You see she will make son something different that what we eat because he is picky. I said "Boy where have I heard that before" She said "I know, I will stop making him different things to eat"

Ok well I have a half day today and then the City is having a luncheon to show appreciation for the volunteers so I get a free lunch today. We can bring one guest and I asked wife and she said she would go. She didn't go last year...

Bye

Hey Doc,
Couple of things I wanted to comment on...

The being mysterious part may help in getting the WAS to come back, but you W is back. It seems to me that in your S, you and the W are living the married single life. The Retro has helped with the communication, but are the two of you doing things? I'm not talking about dates, just things. It seems as though the two of you do a lot of parallel activities. I like Yoyo's suggestions above, but maybe you could do these with W and son. I would help to build the connection.

Personal opinion, but the sarcastic line about the reply button was not at all productive. Maybe in a very healthy relationship, but not where you are currently. Email and texts can be very difficult because of the lack of context and inflection.

This did not sound very DB to me, either.
Depends on how it eas received of course, but as HFF said, in email it is hard to gauge the reception. "Take a chill pill" is always criticism, if you ask me.

might-could have been better to go funny with the charlie brown thing.

"Hey Charlie Brown, I was just hanging with Linus and Lucy, they say hello."

or maybe better - ignore it.

or maybe "I like it when you reply!" (focus on your feelings, not her actions)

leave it at that.

doc,

I just wanted to comment on the classmates thing. I don't necessarily agree with ot and saffie. My class was pretty close, so was H's class. They all email eachother and we've been to one reunion. So I don't think looking people up on it is wrong. I think that's a bit far fetched. I would never cheat on H, and certainly wouldn't be "scanning" classmates to find someone even if that was the case, and knowing you, I know that wasn't intended.

I actually think the charlie brown remark was funny... \:\)

no worries...

No Worries Tal thanks..

I just got back with wife from the Awards / appreciation luncheon the city gave the Reserve P.D.
Can't tell you how many people came up to me and thanked me for my time and then turned to W and said things like. "You were lucky to find him" and 'I'd hold on to him if I were you"

The Chief of Police gave me a plaque with my Badge on it with 1560 hrs of service. Wife said "wow I didn't know you had that many hours of service"

Lunch was nice.. Ok I need to get back on the roof and finish the repairs and clean the gutters....

Bye
