You're right--they were sarcastic but for H's benefit actually. I was a little peeved when I wrote that. You're right I need to take those out. Hey, one smiley was actually a sad face. \:\) Karen

OK, I've cooled down how about this:

I agree with you; that sounds very expensive. I can check into electric heaters also. Those are supposed to be cheaper in cost and installation. One problem with moving is that eventually if/when we want to sell the house, you probably have to fix something like that anyway before selling it or a broken heater would turn off most people buying a house.

That might be a good idea about you living in the house, if I have to rent then you living in the house if I don't have enough money. I do think one of us should live in the house for a while at least until the market is better because I think it would either not sell or at a loss with current low house prices (once you figure in closing costs and realtor commissions and stuff) like we need more debts!!! And I'm sure the kids would love you living in the same town!!! I would like to try to live in the house with the kids if possible for the sake of consistency though.

I wouldn't offer to let him live there, no way , no how. He left, he doesn't get to move himself and OW in there while you and the kids live in an apartment, so don't you even offer Missy!!

OK, so take out the 2nd paragraph then. You're right that's horrible-and I probably shouldn't put that in writing with an L anyway! Just email the 1st paragraph then? Short and sweet? No smileys. \:\) Karen

karen, if anything, just send the first paragraph.

I have to be honest with you...

I was laughing my ass off reading the first draft! You crack me UP with those smileys.

Do NOT send any smileys to your H. If you HAVE been sending them in your recent past emails, don't send them anymore. It makes you appear goofy to him, I think.

I'm sorry to say it that way. I just want to help you. Save your smileys for us. I'm going to try to do the same with MY wife, although I did tell her to "have a good one" today.

But no smiley. \:\)

I was laughing my ass off reading my email back after I cooled down. I have toned down the smileys with H, way, way down, but you know for me that means I still occasionally use them. \:\) I was using them for sarcastic emphasis today, but usually I use them in the true spirit of smileys. Um, you haven't noticed that I AM a goof??? Goob...whatever you want to call it. Too late! I think H already knows that.... \:\) Karen

Too many smileys (a good rule of thumb is ZERO); far too long and "justifying."

The first half is all good, and takes the appropriate tone, I think. Stick to that, and cut the length by 2/3rds, and eliminate ALL SMILEYS.

That's what I think.
