You're great at holding your head up high, keeping the kids involved. It's your choice if you want to be upfront ("I'm doing as well as can be expected considering the circumstances") or focusing on your long term intentions ("Isn't it great seeing the kids having so much fun?" ).
I don't talk about him to my in-laws. I focus on my time with them and leave it at that. Of course you still interact with the father of your children! A big oopsie on my part.
