Hey all.. thanks.. appreciate your thoughts!

Crappy day at work.. 2% laid off which is actually way below most of our industry but still included some good friends. Sometimes it's good to be overworked underpaid, I guess, as I'm OK. Pretty sad tonight and taking it out on people I shouldn't be (i.e. H) so need to work on that.

Sorry.. depressing post... I'll be fine but having a rough night. Hard when everyone's like "well your job's OK who cares?" and your good friends are suffering. I know y'all know what I mean.

We're 'hosting' a wedding reception tomorrow.... wish me luck..

hey Nik,

I know how you feel. Sorry about the lay off's. I wonder sometimes who is worst off.. the people getting laid off or the ones left behind.

3 years ago I was "moved" to a new department. I mean my boss just told me and a co worker that starting monday we would be working somewhere else. Then about 3 months after that EVERYONE. (about 15 peole) were laid off in that department except for me. Everyone was so pissed at ME. I had no choice, I did not have any say in anything.

Things are a little slow where I work now but we still have "Temp" employees. They are our safety net. They will go first.

My sitch also sucked becasue my w worked for the same company and she got laid off. That may have lead to some resentment. I don't know but she kept talking bad about the company and I had to remind her that I still work there and the company is still putting food on our table.
I'll tell ya it sucked being at work at that time and then when I got home I had to hear it all over again..

Hugs Nikki,,and smile for me...

Dr LOve

Doc, SMW, ST, Michelle - thank you!!!

I feel much better today. Well emotionally.. physically I feel like crap. \:\) But that tends to happen when you're 35 and try to keep up with a bunch of 23 year olds. ;\)

I forced myself to go out shopping yesterday and managed to find a really gorgeous dress to wear to the wedding/reception. I love it! So did H. \:\)

Reception went GREAT. Several times the bride and groom came up to me choked up telling me that H and I helped make their "dream wedding" come true, how they never would have had the wedding they truly wanted without us, etc. Sooo nice. They even did a special toast to us and gave us a gift card for a very nice dinner out - I almost cried. When they did the toast all their friends and family clapped and cheered like crazy. Wow!! Every one of them made it a point to thank me and H, give us hugs, etc.

And OMG these guys could party... I should've known since they're usually the last ones standing at our parties. Imagine what happens when it's nothing but their friends and family?? It started (the part at our house) at 8:30 and I think I helped tuck the last person in at about 4:30, then fell asleep myself shortly after. Yawwwwnnnn.

Fun stuff though.

We had the first person ever actually dance on our bar... Michelle's seen it and can attest that you can't actually stand up on it (ceiling is too close). It was quite the entertainment! It's not really built to support that much weight so a bunch of us basically held the bar up while H waited to catch the girl in case she hit her head and fell off... totally hilarious. (and I should add... not in the "embarassing OMG did I really do that" way - she was quite proud of her bar dancing skills )

Bride and groom actually spent the night here along with about 10 of their friends (yes, including bar-dancer girl). They all got up early-ish and cleaned up, then headed off before we even got out of bed! Nice to wake up to a somewhat clean house after all that. \:\)

Definitely a much better day than Friday, that's for sure...

Sounds very nice!

That must've been something else to have a girl dance on that bar! LOL

The dress sounds pretty.

Glad they helped clean up! \:\)

Nik,

I am sorta new here... been on a few months. Noticed how long you have been DBing..wanted to read your situation.

I could only find a few months back. What am I doing wrong? Or do you have a link to your beginning threads?

Hope all is going well:)

Thanks
Sandy
