Gabe--Let me guess... you watched the women's volleyball but not the men's? (You did know that the men won the gold this year? ) Let's see... bikinis on the beach and spandex on the indoor court. And the men wear regular sports shorts? Hmmm. Color me surprised? Actually, I wish I could pretend that I'm not laughing out loud. You guys are hilarious!
Note to those who wonder why the girls wear tight spandex and compression jerseys: my D14 says playing in anything else is uncomfortable. She said they get very distracted by hanging shirt tails and maneuvering around the court with shorts. I've noticed with every passing year that the male crowds around the courts are increasing by tens. Who'd have thunk?
Beth--THANKS for weighing in for we female sports fans! I'm so with you on this! You couldn't pay me enough money to watch Desperate Housewives--ever! There's always a home team game to watch (football, baseball or hockey) that will win my viewership 100% of the time. And I was even married to someone who didn't enjoy sports as much as I do. We're so out here!
Where do I sign the petition? I'm not much into NBA (professional thugs) but I admit to liking basketball. I think those long shorts suck! And seeing the women play in them doesn't make me happy either. After all, both genders are extremely fit - so why not indulge us paying spectators (okay, so we pay too much and maybe I think we deserve eye candy?) in a little show?
I looked at D14's cell phone wallpaper over the weekend while she was waiting for her ride to the homecoming dance and I busted out laughing. It was a back shot of shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in the infield (she absolutely loves him). Only his head was cropped off and right smack in the center of the screen was a great view of a very well shaped butt. She said it made her happy to look at it.
So send the petition my way when you get it! I'll forge a few signatures to help the cause!
Gabe--thanks for posting. I've always enjoyed your musing and watching your growth as well. My bets are on you that you have a happy and fulfilling future. You've earned it!
Hugs--
Betsey
p.s. Kevin, where the hell are you? Maybe Beth was right about that blackberry thumb syndrome?
