That's why I have the Serenity Prayer prominently displayed on my refrigerator.

And so when I catch myself beginning to think about what I cannot control, like W's behavior, I try to concentrate on what I can control -- so I open the freezer and get out the ice cream.

Well I think some people are weak. But you know I also think the opposite is true. Somebody like me who was weak and really thought of myself as weak has gotten pretty strong, stronger than probably my H thought I could be or maybe most people that know me. You've gotten stronger, think of lwb, kat, I could name a lot of people here that are incredibly strong!!! So I think people can surprise you with their strength too! Karen

The apostle Paul said “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

I think that means in our weakness we humble ourselves before God... and allow Him to be our true strength.

Hi, Tal, Karen,

I'm fine. I have the boys with me this week. S3 is taking a nap at the moment, and S7 is messing with his Legos.

We went shopping for S7's cub scout uniform at the local provisioner. S7 has all he needs to get started. But I am now trying to figure out now how I'm supposed to sew all these patches and stuff on his uniform, let alone hem up his pants. Sewing was never my forte. I could hire a tailor to set the hem, but I'm going to be faced with the prospects of sewing a new patch every time S7 earns one. I guess I need to learn. Can sewing machines handle patches? (I'm a bit green on these matters.)

Also, somewhere in our errands yesterday I managed to lose my work phone, a Blackberry. I've been calling all the places we stopped, but most are closed on Sunday.

W didn't show for church today. Typical. But even though we were late ourselves (I nearly forgot the huge box of canned and dry goods we are donating for the local crisis ministry), I and my S's had a good time there this morning.

How's everyone this weekend? The first day of Fall today, right? It's beautiful here, and the weather is sunny and nice, almost cool. I hope everyone is doing well. I'll be checking everyone's threads for updates.

D6's patches were iron on. Sadly, I would be in your shoes, my friend. I can't sew a button on. Yup. Have a friend or friends wife that might want to help you out?

Sorry about the lost Blackberry. I've dropped my work Blackberry in the toilet before. ;\)

About W not coming to church, don't worry. Think hard about this, wasn't it better NOT seeing her?

How are you feeling?

Hey NC,

Patches are a Biatch! I hope they are iron on now. They should be. Sewing those things on by hand can give you a blister because they're so darn thick. If I were you and you are going to attempt it, use a very fine needle. Anything too big will only end up hurting your finger.

EEEK....sure hope that tomorrow that the businesses open and someone gives you a call to say they have your phone. My son loses his all of the time and everytime he does someone will call me saying that they have it. I guess they call me because they see Mom in the phone log. I feel naked when I am without mine.

GOOG LUCK!!!!

Love,
Bethie

NC-
From experience:

The patches are iron on. Just learn to tack them down on the corners so they don't peel up. It is easy.

Take the pants somewhere like Mens Wearhouse etc. They will hem pants for about $10. Well worth it.

Your phone will be in the last place you look.
