BH - love the cabin idea...not sure on any of your ideas, cause I've never been off the East Coast. You might push me out of my comfort zone, yet. Can we still get cheap airfare to those places, or is the cheapest to NY / FL?

I know that there are lots of cabin communities in upstate NY within an hour of the city and close to railroads. We could have the best of both worlds - mountains and lakes in the woods, entertainment in the big city....
