Thanks! S13 is in the ELP (Extended? Learning Program) at school. He had to test in with really high scores on a test to do that. And it sounds like they are going to try to let him double up in math to get ahead a year. So, they are doing something. We'll see how it goes.

S10 didn't get the scores on the ELP test last year, I have a feeling he made the test to difficult on himself! (I think he tried to read too much into things, instead of just answering the questions.) He takes it again soon. His teacher has recommended him for a new peer mediation program at school. It sounds like it is a program to use kids to help resolve conflicts. They give them some training, and then have them meet with kids that are having conflicts and work out solutions. The other thing he is doing is reading like crazy. The teacher set a goal for each kid to read 5000 pages during the school year. He is seiously threatening to have that done before the end of the first quarter. (He will certainly have it done by the end of the break.) He's proud of being first, so that's a good thing for him.

I got lazy. Did my homework the period before it was due, goofed off in the evenings. My parents never checked up on me because I always did great.

That sounds like me. Sometimes I'd get teh homework done before the end of class. The only homework I really took any time on was stuff that involved writing. Still, only as little as possible!
