Hi Lee - I've also had my thyroid quit working and am on Synthroid. It has a huge effect on your moods, energy, libido, etc., just like the other ladies have said. Also, I think if you're unfamiliar with what the symptoms can be (b/c they can be vague and subtle and may be attributed to other things) it can be hard to realize that there's something wrong. I had been having symptoms for months (and I'm an MD too), but never thought I might have thyroid problems until I noticed my neck looked different!
I agree with Jackie that standing by your W in a loving way during this time would show her so strongly how much you lover her ("In sickness and health, for better or worse..."). Continue to be patient with her, and give the meds time to get her hormone levels up to what they need to be, and I think you'll see some positive changes.
Maybe knowing your wife has this medical problem which is playing at least some part in her behavior makes it easier not to take it so personally??
Good to hear from you! Hang in there!

Well everyone my W just got her gallbladder removed eveything seems to have gone just fine. She is staying with her mom which is good becuase I couldn't take off to many days from work. Yesterday after we got her in bed. She said to me thank you for being so good to me. I feel bad but when she said this I had a negitive thought run through my. Like duh, and you almost through it all away.
I am really trying to get rid of those negitive thoughts. Becuase they really should not be there. Right now things seem to be ok.
Today Im going to a concert it should be really fun.
Ah, Lee - I call those thoughts "digs" - or at least they are when you actually say them. The urge is almost irresistible sometimes - good for you for keeping that thought to yourself. I think it comes out of the tremendous need to have them acknowledge how they've hurt us - and maybe a little bit of desire to hurt them back? Don't worry, it goes away with time!
What kind of concert? I've been researching little portable multitrack digital recorders for my daughter the songwriter - amazing what you can get for $300 these days!
Ellie - what a great term for those thoughts! Now maybe I'll smile when I have one.
Great job, Lee on holding that in! Have fun at the concert, and keep up the good DB'ing!

... and now she is very aware of it and wants you to know she letting you know how she appreciates all you have done to prevent that from happening. Hope that helps in counteracting those "digs".

Lee, bad, you never heard the commandment, thout shall not have fun while I am sick. Do you self a favor and visit her till she tells you to go away. I made this mistake already. She brought my fun activity up many times.
Alright so the concert went very well. Im really sore but it was fun. Talked with my wife before and after the concert she is doing ok. Feeling a little pain but the pain meds are taking care of that.
So that is about all I have hope you all are doing well.
Hi Lee! How are ya? You sound pretty decent! be caring with your W- this is your chance to show your really good intentions. I do those digs too- bad mistake as I wrote earlier. Good for you for keeping it in! take care and stopping in to say hello Shay
