Hi Tom:

I guess I'll have to look at a map since I'm not sure where 522 is. I stay on 11 to 141. I can walk to 141 from my cottage. Though usually when I come here I drive through Bracebridge because it is such a pretty town and I like to see what is playing at the movies and what is going on in town. Nighttime in town is so pretty with the Christmas lights year round.

Funny, she asked me yesterday if I wanted gravy but I also pass it up since I just love the seasoned salt. YUM! Not so good for the BP!

So funny, though, that since you first mentioned Elwood Epps a year or so ago, I can't pass it without thinking of you! Someday I'll even stop and go in. Do you ever stop at the Muskoka Store?

Today is the start of a new era for me. I am no longer the parent of a teenager! YEAH! I've had teens for the past 16 years and the second half of that - on my own I have raised them. But today Ashley turns 20!!!! Has she grown up? No! She just got a fulltime job, is completing her general arts and sciences online and although she dumped the boyfriend I didn't think was good enough - she's moving on to a new one who I'm not totally crazy about either. The one I LOVE (her high school BF) came to visit last week. Wish she'd get back with him. He has a great future and is just so nice. Oh well. Biting tongue!

Today is cloudy and wet but it is warmer outside than in so I'm under the awning at the swing. I managed to get one wall ready for wallpaper so I'm on a roll. The kitchen is a total disaster - you'd never know I was having guests this w/e. I'm going to clean up the paper pieces on the floor, size the wall then start the papering. I've decide to go one wall at a time. More of a sense of accomplishment that way and if I have to leave it for the winter - I won't be leaving it a mess.

My sis, Leenie is coming up tonight and hopefully my friend whose son has been giving her major grief for months. The Fall Fair is on and I expect we'll have fun no matter what we do. I've got 2 beds to change (left them after Brandon and friends were here). Got to do it again as soon as they leave on Sun as Ash and friends come up Sun night. We will pass on the highway no doubt.

And I want to plant bulbs. Got 150 yesterday. A mix of tulips, crocuses, daffs etc. My new woodland garden should be something that changes from Spring through fall. Next year I will add mums. This year - enough already!

Hope we get some sun and the warm air continues. The beach sits empty and that is a crime! Want to get out on the Seadoo as well - the girls always like that.

And I ramble.

But its Friday. TGIF! And I'm going to accomplish what I set out to accomplish. And that's a great feeling!

What are you up to this w/e?

Wow!

Congratulations, mom! It seems like Ash has weathered some rough years fairly well. You deserve a lot of credit!

Your garden sounds lovely. Bulbs are my favorite. I have let my gardening really slide this summer, but now with the cooler weather I may "dig in"!

This weekend I am going to a celebration for my friends son who turns 16. Other than that, planning for my class that starts next Saturday and for a talk I am giving on Wednesday.

Take care,
SG

Hi "Other" SG - my longtime Db friend,

Your w/e plans sound good. Nice to have a social outing. And are you excited about your new classes? I always get pumped when I go back to work. It is different this year as I'm not teaching but I'll be doing full studio production numbers in the Spring. I have 7 months to get them ready. More my style!

And what is your talk about? I've only ever given a couple. I usually am asked to speak on Parenting a disabled child or being a Parent Advocate. Last time I spoke so long we nearly all missed lunch. I have the Gift of Gab I"m told - lol.

I am so happy to have this new little garden by my door. My lemonade that replaces the collapsing retaining wall. Best to add some colour to that lemonade.

Have a great w/e SG!

No teens! YAY!

Sounds like you are enjoying your time without teaching even though you may miss it. Nice to have that extra time, I am sure.

Do you get to know what colour the flowers will be when you choose the bulbs? I ask because I have never planted bulbs.

Trip:

I am soaking up every minute without taking 4 hours a day doing choreography (OK, I am a PERFECTIONIST!)

Whenever you buy bulbs you choose just what you want. I bought a mixed box of them this time (way cheaper - I got 150 for $19.97 at Home Hardware!). Each type is packaged in a separate bag so you know what you have. They are all pictured.

A half hour planting in the Fall gives you weeks of pleasure in the spring. Trust me - worth so much more than the $20 bucks spent. Why not try it? You'll thank me later.

Thanks, Barb. Very cool.

I was thinking to plant in pots on my balcony. I will have to go and look when I get back from this weekend.

I am not sure exactly what I will be talking about. I belong to a small local group of business owners. We meet 2x a month and at each meeting 2 people get to talk. It is my turn on Wednesday.

It will have something to do with being a technology person since the day of punch cards, and starting at time when "girls" were not in the club. My involvement with teaching and technology has been just a little bit ahead of the curve, and it is kind of interesting. I tell parents that learning and curiosity and exploration are way more important than a particular "type" of computer. After all, when I was in High School, my job didn't exist! And that is continuing
to be the case.

That was a good deal on Bulbs, Barb. I love Hyacinth. I always force a bunch for the winter. The smell is amazing. My garden has multiple varieties of daffodil, narcissus and Iris. (A corm, not a bulb, but similar!)

take care,
SG

Trip: Enjoy your w/e. Is this the ball, Cinderella? I must get to your thread to see what threads you chose.

SG: Your talk sounds very interesting. And what a model for the women's movement. You are way ahead of the game Ms SG!

I LOVE hyacinths too. Have both grape and the regular variety in pink, white and blue and home. Not sure if I'll add any here. I seem to be in red, yellow and purple mode.

OOPS rain is starting. I'll be moving inside if the winde starts up.

Hello Barb..........

I was going to do some planting myself this weekend but man the weather sure doesn't look promising for that. I'm going for more tulips this fall. Last year it was hyacinths and daffodils but instead I guess I'll just have to settle for a clean house. Is Josh coming this weekend? What will you do if it rains at the cottage all weekend?
