remember to be really proactive with the drs.
explain your concerns
make sure they run ALL the tests they are supposed to

in order to get a child on med there should be like a questionaire that the parents fill out and the teachers fill out and anyone else that sees them on a daily basis

they will also be asked the questions on the sheets

there is then at least 4 tests that i know of that they go through

along with an emotionally cognitive type test (like do you feel drustrated at times? When are you angry etc) that either a school psychologist looks over (and if you are getting him tested the school is required by law to pay for that testing so it isn't out of pocket for you...they do a preliminary ADD/ADHD or whatever initials they are using now test and then your primaryphysician would get copies, look everything over and proceed from there. All emotional type testing is done on the school's dime

anyway
they go over those tests and plug answers into an evaluatory type thing and then see if he would fall in the peramiters for EBD
(which is what my son is)

He was diagnosed with gifted hyper sensitivity
heightened multifaceted sensitivity or something ginormous like that

this means that he has outburst more
has a had time reigning in his emotions
super intelligent
highly creative
he likes to argue (which isn't really arguing he jst has an insesant need to KNOW)

he is easily distracted
fogets homework, times to be home etc because he is involved with whatever it is that he is doing at the time

of course
i did everything wrong
(what else is new???)

i wish he had been diagnosed much younger

anyhoo

just something to keep in mind
