H just told me that he's flying home for the rest of the week because his dad is in the hospital with complications from diabetes. Apparently, it's not serious, but H thinks it's serious enough to fly home, so I'm not sure. Keep his dad in your good thoughts this week, OK?
Thanks.

Thanks, JWS. H was so weird last night about it. He absolutely did NOT want me to send his dad anything in the hospital--based on reading in between the lines of what he said, I think combination of stress over his dad's health, guilt over me spending money, and guilt that I want to reach out to his family? Of course, he said hurtful, unreasonable things to try to dissuade me, but I was reasonable and validating, and by getting out of his way, he ended up realizing what a huge #%*^ he was being & apologizing later over text. My 'response' was giving in and just sending his dad an e-mail like H wanted and bcc'ing H. H contacted me again to thank me for that. So, it was all good, DB-wise.
H just reminds me of a wounded & disoriented animal, alternately baring his teeth and ???. Thinking of him that way helps me empathize. He's like a po'ed LOL cat:
I'm sorry to hear about h's dad. It sounds like you DBed the situation well and came across in a good light to your h. I would say stay back and follow h's needs/ wishes as you are doing, they get funny around families!
P.S- the pics are great, that site is really funny!
