I think the real trick here is to find the line between unconditional love and letting people get off scot-free when it isn't for the best...and stay on the correct side of that line.
There is no 'line' when it's unconditional. Your statement is a dichotomy. It contradicts itself.
Unconditional loves requires you to love the the person in spite of what they do, not because of it.
That's why I recommend the Ed Wheat book. It's perfectly explained in there.
