I am not surprised either. Poor Ry, he is such a good kid and of course he doesn't like seeing his dad hurting. That may be part of why he is worried about himself, just maybe a way to express it. But of course you reassured him and of course he is made out of much stronger stuff and he has the (unfortunate) experience of seeing how his dad has screwed up his life.
Same thing happened w/my ex. The bad part is that he started trying to come on to me a bit. He is lonely and I think he knows he screwed up. Oh well too bad so sad. I wouldn't take him back for a million bucks. And I bet you feel the same!
