That sounds like an intriguing call! Sounds as though you are making real progress!!! I wouldn't be surprised if he started calling you more often.
I know exactly what you mean about the tone of voice in which things are said. It really does give you an insight into how someone is feeling. So him saying good night in the sing-song voice, I would take this as a positive sign, a very positive sign.
Maybe the C thing will come up in conversation again. Not sure if you can find another way to work it in, and see whether he finishes his question next time?
