Holy cow Fig, that might just be a new figgy record (5!)

I've got all data back to 1998 when I started my own business. It's just easier to keep everything, personal data included.

I don't think it's as uncommon as you think.

Thanks for clarifying A_O.

In my line of work - paper trail is everything. It is easier to save everything - than delete the wrong thing. Of course with discovery applying to e-communications - you just have to take a few precautions with the reslly sensitive stuff to protect attorney/client privilege.

In the past, I have requested that those that know me refrain from posting to me using my real name b/c well it is not exactly the most common name.

It seems like I have been outted by Barbara w/ no objections from her friends or the moderator - so no real point in using my username anymore.

To those that I post to on a regular basis - you now have enough information to find my professional contact information - I am okay with you using it to contact me. Thank you Barbara & Friends and sg.

take care,

Soup:

I just noticed your post. I was just going to tell you that your sentence is absolutely the very last deep thought I am going to process for a week...

....when I received an email from Humongo Client that they had randomly selected 20 applications for quality review and mine had been selected and reviewed and that their evaluation was attached GULP... They file a gagillion applications a year...

They review your patent application draft from the perspective of how a litigator would tear it to shreds in court.... Every word I write is reviewed. For example, I got dinged 5% of my total score for using the word "need" in a sentence... I know in my world - that is a bad word - I slipped... I am too shaken/nervous to even think about what the right word is right now.... And I had a typo 1120 instead of 120 as a reference numeral - another 5% ding... I scored 85 - I think that is 85%. I am too nervous to add the numbers...

I am in the top quartile total score. I am too nervous to pull up the application they reviewed.... I am going to wait till I get back from vacation.... I am so glad I didn't know that one of the applications I drafted for them was being reviewed this week... I would have been a nervous wreck!

I know I write every application with the view that it may be litigated. It has just shaken me to find out that an entire team of attorneys actually reviewed my work using that standard. I am going to go sit down for a little while now... I think I will throw up if any of the stuff I have written ever actually gets litigated someday....Actually kinda feel a little ill right now...

take care,
AG

Hey Soup & AG Friends:

What was that last post about? For some reason - it really doesn't seem all that important anymore!

My vacation was a vacation - BUT a little different than what I expected. Turks & Caicos had a little visitor - Hurricane Hanna - yup lived through the whole cycle. It was rainy. Then eerie creepy calm in eye. And then the really incredibly powerful side - uprooted trees, water everywhere... We actually had to run to our rooms just as the nasty side hit - soaked to the bone in minutes.

Well all this started w/in 24 hours after I arrived on the island - so all activities were cancelled - no scuba, snorkeling, sailing, trapeze etc. So there were 200 type guests (GMs)that went to this Resort for the athletic activities and 100 staff (GOs). No one could leave the island and no one new arrived.

And then just as Hanna left - well Ike is on course to may hit the island - so all tourists were evacuated. Airlines flew in empty planes to fly everyone out. My trip was cut short by a day - not a bad thing - my liver is relieved. \:o

I am a little worried about the GO's. They really aren't like traditional staff. They are people like us from all over the world that take a sabatical from reality and work at The Resort for awhile... They are still there - and do not know yet if they will be evacuated. Ike is Category 3 - Hanna was pretty scary as a Category 1. I have never heard the wind blow so loudly... It was so powerful...

The vacation was still great. Great people, great conversations, great food and we kept busy doing silly indoor things. Very international crowd - so many languages all over the place. We partied till 2-3 am the last few nights! I exchanged phone numbers with several people and we are going to try and coordinate future vacations. We all work too hard and need to make taking time off a priority...

It was also a great and safe environment to practice my skills with members of the opposite sex. There are all types of people - some really respect boundaries and some aren't so great when they get drunk or just don't get it. There was one creey stalker guy that scared me a little b/c he simply could not accept repeated NO's for an answer - one of the GO's noticed and alerted security to keep an eye on him - so that was okay. There really are a lot of great men out there. Didn't feel The Zing with anyone - but made some new friends.

Life is very good. It will be better if Ike misses T & C....

take care,
AG

Holy Hanna... good see that you're back and OK. What an experience that must have been ! It's interesting when a group of strangers are brought together due to bad weather conditions. I remember being in that situation back in the mid '70s. Only it was winter.:-( I think I'd rather ride out a summer storm. :-)

So do you get any kind of refund ? :-)

Hey Soup!

This is the type of resort that fosters a lot of social interaction. For example, all the tables seat 8 people so you are always seated with different people. The hurricane did lead to a little more interaction.

The Resort handled the storm very well. The Chief of the village happened to be on vacation. The GO in charge was only 28. I was very impressed with how well The Resort did with what they had to work with. For example, the night Hanna hit, we were out as long as possible and really were told to go to our rooms at the last minute at around 9:30 pm. The second night, Hanna was lingering around the island and scheduled maybe hit again at 1 am - so we stayed out till midnight. That night was interesting - people went a little wild - caught up in a Dionysian like Hurricane frenzy.

I think they are planning on giving us some sort of credit. But really I don't mind if they don't. This is one of the few places where I can go and really just leave reality at the door and am surrounded by other type A's that leave reality at the door. People that work too hard also know how to really let loose. \:\) Everything is a little on the wild side - the shows etc. Sometimes there were articles of clothing flying onto the stage as a part of the games! \:o I have posted in the past about feeling like a fish out of water at times. This is a place where I feel very comfortable and very much in my element. \:\)

I keep remembering different parts of my trip and getting a huge smile on my face. And everytime I hear certain songs - well housework involves a lot of dancing lately! \:\) I won't post much more b/c it will probably be censored as blogging or as offensive. Besides my surviving choices may run contrary to the BB purpose of preserving M's. I would have to say - at this vacation I found myself thinking - I am so glad I am single! \:o

I will say this - I think I have a thing for Australian men now.... Might have to add that one to my list of requirements! \:o

And all the stress-related stiffness, tight muscles, etc - all gone! That is priceless! \:D

Life is very good today!

take care,
AG
