I don't think the idea is that you HAVE to be alone. I think it's just about knowing who you are alone. When you've spent YEARS being a "we", you can easily lose sight of "me". That's what marriage is about. It's about being a "we". So, when you're blindsided into a "me" you may not be comfortable, and may go looking straight for the next "we" to put you back into your comfort zone.
