The antibiotic drops are important too, but my doctor told me that it is very hard to get antibiotics into the eye. Not physically difficult to put in, that somehow the antibiotic drops are not that effective. That is why the treatment for an infection is necessary. Pills and drops won't cure it if the eye gets infected.
I also had to put in drops to dilate the pupil. Those drops burned horribly! But you do what you have to do when it comes to your eyes.
